about

KOSOVEIRA - Capoeira meets Kosovo

Kosoveira is a musical exchange project blending Brazilian Capoeira with traditional Kosovar music.

The project brings together a diverse group of musicians currently residing in Kosovo in a rare multi-cultural collaboration where Brazilian Capoeira meets traditional Kosovar music.

Luis "Banderas" Panichelli , Brazilian Capoeira monitor/musician, coordinator of the Association Capoeira Lausanne (ACL) - Mestre Paulão Suiça - in Pristina, teamed up with 7 Kosovar artists to produce an album that combines the best of both worlds.

Musical encounters between the artists resulted in an experimental fusion of traditional Capoeira rhythms and Portuguese lyrics with Kosovar/Albanian and Roma-influenced themes and sounds.

The synergy of styles produces moments of utter psychedelia, melancholy and excitement, with the listener being absorbed by the stark contrast that somehow grooves.
